Tale of the Tape: D.C. United vs. Toronto FC

Silva Tale 2013

In boxing, the tale of the tape is the pre-fight measurements between the two combatants. In 2013, we're telling the tale of the tape between D.C. United and its foe of the week.

Hamid Clean Sheets
In the six games he has played for D.C. United against Toronto FC, Homegrown goalkeeper Bill Hamid has kept three shutouts for the Black-and-Red and holds a goals-against average of 0.59. His most recent clean sheet came on 10/6/12 at BMO Field, helping United to a 1-0 win.

Outscoring Opponents
In the 16 games D.C. United has played against Toronto FC, it has outscored the Canadian side by a margin of 33-20. The Black-and-Red has scored 13 of those goals in the first half of games and 20 in the second.

Tallies Against Toronto
D.C. United boasts a League second-best tallies mark against Toronto, netting 33 goals – 22 of those goals coming when playing at RFK Stadium – when facing the Canadian club. Only the New York Red Bulls have tallied more (34) against Toronto.

Silva on Fire
D.C. United’s new signing from Toronto FC, Luis Silva, has begun his career with the Black-and-Red in superb form, and has provided either a goal or assist in each of his first four games for the Black-and-Red. Silva’s overall streak of five games (including his last game for Toronto FC on 7/3 when he notched an assist) is the longest active streak in the League, and he sits just one behind Mike Magee (Chicago Fire) and Alvaro Saborio (Real Salt Lake) for the longest run of games with either a goal or assist this season.

Silva To Face Old Team
D.C. United midfielder Luis Silva joined the Black-and-Red on 7/9 from Toronto FC, traded to the club in exchange for allocation money. That move came just three-and-a-half weeks after Silva played for Toronto FC against United at RFK Stadium on 6/15. The midfielder started and went 87 minutes as the away side won 2-1.
