D.C. United Showcase to take place in Virginia Beach, Va., on July 14

D.C. United today announced, in collaboration with Beach FC, that its U-23 squad will hold a player showcase in Virginia Beach, Va., on Sunday, July 14 at Hampton Roads Soccer Complex. The event will also feature youth soccer clinic for ages U-7 to U-12. The clinic will include interactive elements straight from the D.C. United Academy training program and will offer an opportunity for local youth to take the field with top-tier D.C. United U-23 staff and players. Members of the public who wish to solely attend the game will be able to do so free of charge.


“D.C. United Showcase serves as a key application in strengthening our brand in the outer edges of our regional footprint,” said D.C. United Chief Marketing Officer Doug Hicks. “We look forward to hosting several of these events each summer, bringing talented young professional prospects, accomplished legends of the club and training opportunities to important markets.”


“Beach FC is excited to host D.C. United for this inaugural U-23 game and clinic,” said Beach FC Boys Director of Coaching Mark Waite. “D.C. United will showcase some of the best U-23 players in the country, providing a tremendous event for our soccer community and a great experience for some of our current and former players. Additionally, our area’s younger players will have the opportunity to participate in a clinic with D.C. United coaches and players. We look forward to an exciting day of soccer.”

Ages: 7-12 years, male and female

Date: Sunday, July 14
Time: 1:00-2:00 p.m. (clinic); 3:30 p.m. (exhibition game vs. Beach FC)
Clinic Price: $5
Price includes: Registration for one (1) participant and a game ticket to the July 14 D.C. United U-23 exhibition match versus Beach FC.


About the D.C. United U-23s:

D.C. United’s U-23 team features top collegiate, international and domestic players. Led by D.C United legend Jaime Moreno, the squad will work and learn from one of the most accomplished players in MLS history. Moreno is assisted by D.C. United’s U-18 Academy Head Coach Nolan Sheldon and U-16 Academy Head Coach Tom Torres.
