3 things to know for Open Cup on Wednesday

Rochat’s Availability:

Alain Rochat, who joined the club on Monday after two full seasons with the Whitecaps, is not eligible for US Open Cup play this Wednesday. Rochat’s registration remains with the Canadian Soccer Association until the next international transfer window when it will be moved to US Soccer. The defender will be eligible for Open Cup play as early as August 7, should the team advance. The new signing will, however, be available for selection in all upcoming MLS regular season matches.

A winning record at home in Open Cup:

D.C. United’s all-time home record in Open Cup play is 21-6-2. The Black-and-Red was the first MLS side to win the tournament back in 1996. The team most recently took home the Cup in 2008, and have made it to the Open Cup final a total of four times (1996, 1997, 2008, 2009). With a win, United will advance to the fifth round to play the winners of New York Red Bulls vs New England Revolution on Wednesday, June 26 at the Maryland SoccerPlex.

Tickets to the Match:

Match tickets for Wednesday night’s game are $20 for adults ($10 for D.C. United season plan holders) and free for youth under 16 years, when accompanied by an adult. Tickets are availble online and at the SoccerPlex on the day of the game. Directions and parking information can be found online HERE.
