MLS announces AS Roma as 2013 AT&T All-Star Game opponent

All-Star Game

The 2013 AT&T MLS All-Star game will feature MLS All-Stars versus Italian Serie A side AS Roma. With its US-based ownership, United Sates Men’s National Team center midfielder Michael Bradley, and Roma promising to play a first-team lineup in the match, it was an obvious choice for MLS decision-makers.

The game will take place on July 31 at Sporting Park and both Sporting KC president Robb Heinemann and Roma CEO Mark Pannes understand that this is mutually beneficial—both clubs, as well as MLS, are looking to expand their brand in international markets.

MLS president Mark Abbott told MLSsoccer.com this will be “a very, very special event.” Choosing a top-quality Serie A opponent for this All-Star match will only improve MLS’s status, brand and identity internationally.

D.C. United returns to RFK on June 15 to take on Toronto FC. Tickets are available now.
