Veteran forward Carlos Ruiz earned his first start for D.C. United tonight in a 2-0 loss to Portland Timbers FC. Ruiz, a proven goal scorer with 88 MLS goals, worked hard to create chances, registering three shots with one on goal. The talented forward battled for 71 minutes, the most minutes he has played thus far in D.C., and was eventually replaced by forward Lionard Pajoy.
