Virginia Rush gets new ECNL director

Matt Mittelstaedt, Arkansas Rush’s President & Technical Director for the last six years, will become the new Elite Clubs National League director at Virginia Rush beginning in January 2013.

In his role, Mittelstaedt will oversee and develop the Under-14 through U-18 girls competing in the league.

“This is obviously a tremendous honor for me in that the ENCL is the top league for girls in the nation,” Mittelstaedt said in a press release.

Matt was hired as the Technical Director when Arkansas Rush opened for business in 2007. As president & technical director, he has led the Arkansas Rush over the last five years to become one of the top clubs in the state for player development.

“This is a bitter sweet move from my standpoint,” said Tim Schulz, President & CEO, Rush Soccer. “Arkansas is losing a great employee and Virginia is gaining one.”

Virginia Rush, in Virginia Beach, was the first expansion club for Rush Soccer and now is one of the largest branches in the Rush with over 5,000 players. Virginia is also a member club of U.S. Soccer’s Developmental Academy for boys and ECNL for girls.

“The growth and opportunities of the ECNL and VA Rush are extensive and I am extremely excited about this tremendous opportunity.” Mittelstaedt said. “Our goal is to win a national championship and placing players in the U.S. National Team program. Period.”
