D.C. United announced today that striker Hamdi Salihi has been named to the Albanian National Team roster for upcoming World Cup Qualifying matchups with Iceland on 10/12/12 and Slovenia on 10/16/12.
Salihi has been a regular for the Albanian National Team throughout his career. The striker has scored nine goals in 39 senior team matches.
Salihi, signed for his prowess around the net – scoring 53 goals in 90 total matches (all competitions) with his previous club, was signed by the Black-and-Red in February of 2012. So far this season, Salihi has scored five goals in 20 appearances.
