Dykstra helps lead Charleston Battery to USL PRO Championship match

Chicago's Andrew Dykstra is adjusting to his new role as a vocal No. 1 in net.

In dramatic fashion, the Charleston Battery, along with loanedout United goalkeeper Andrew Dykstra, beat the Rochester Rhinos in a penaltykick shootout late Friday to advance the USL PRO Championship game a week fromtoday.


With less than a minute left in the game, Rochester wasleading Charleston 1-0. Tony Donatelli headed home the tying goal in the lastseconds to force extra time and give the Battery another life. The game was eventually forced to penalty kicks after neither side could break through during extra time. The game eventually went on to seven rounds of penalty kicks, where Dykstra savedRochester’s two final penalties to lead the Battery to the final in a weeks time.


The Battery will host the Wilmington Hammerheads in nextSaturday's Championship match after the Hammerheads bested current Unitedmidfielder Lewis Neal’s former club, Orlando City FC.
