D.C.’s advantage in attempts on goal during the second halfon Sunday.  If it felt like thefield was tilted towards Zac MacMath’s goal, that’s because it was.  The Black-and-Red took ten second halfshots to just two for Philadelphia. Over the full ninety minutes, United outshot the Union 20-10.  Dwayne De Rosario paced the hosts withsix shots in one of his most active offensive performances of 2012.

The amount of passes Branko Boskovic failed to completeduring his dramatic thirty-minute stint. The Montenegrin connected on 16 of 20 passes while helping orchestrate adramatic turn in the rhythm of Sunday’s second half.  His set pieces were again extremely dangerous, including the71st minute free kick that ended up in the back of Philadelphia’s net.  Because the cross deflected in offAmobi Okugo, it counted as one of Boskovic’s four ‘incomplete’ passes, provingthat even his missed passes end well.

United’s open field crosses against the Union.  According to Opta – Major League Soccer’sofficial data provider – D.C. entered the weekend with fewer crossesthis season than any other side in MLS. On Sunday they served up 21 open-field crosses to go along with twelvecorner kicks.  Philadelphiamustered just four crosses over the ninety minutes.

Total shots on goal from Michael Farfan and Freddy Adu, twoof Philadelphia’s most dangerous attacking threats.  Other than a 31st minute rebound which he failed to reallyconnect with, Adu was quiet throughout his 69-minute run.  Despite leading the Union in shotstaken this season (40) and taking at least four shots in each of his last twomatches, Farfan was shutout.
