Lance Rozeboom suffers ACL tear

D.C. United announced today that midfielder LanceRozeboom suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament on his left knee duringTuesday’s training session. Rozeboom met with Doctor James Gilbert of MetroOrthopedics and Sports Therapy in Silver Spring, Md. today, who confirmed theinjury and arranged for surgery April 5.


Rozeboom was an unusedsubstitute during Sunday’s 3-1 loss against the LA Galaxy. The 2012Supplemental Draft signed with United on March 7, after completing preseasoncamps in Fla., Ariz., and S.C. Rozeboom was selected by D.C. United in thesecond round (26th overall) of the 2012 MLS Supplemental Draft fromthe University of New Mexico.     


Rozeboom spent four years athe University of New Mexico and was a key member of the team’s undefeated 2011season. The midfielder started each of the team’s 22 matches last year,collecting three goals and two assists, as the Lobos finished 18-0-4. As afreshman, Rozeboom started six of 16 games played, before starting 66consecutive matches beginning during his sophomore season through the end ofhis senior campaign. He finished his career at New Mexico with six goals andfive assists in 78 games (68 starts).
