2012 Carolina Challenge Cup media luncheon

UNITED TRIMS ROSTER

D.C. United has released trialist Alfredo Martins, a native of Americana, Brazil from training camp in Charleston, SC. The 19-year old forward first joined the team two weeks ago in Arizona and saw time in preseaon matches against Sporting KC and Real Salt Lake. Further roster decisions are expected in the weeks ahead as United looks toward the home opener against Sporting Kansas City on March 10.


CAROLINA CHALLENGE CUP MEDIA LUNCHEON

Sometimes fans only see the hard fought battles on the pitch, but yesterday at the Carolina Challenge Cup media luncheon, players, coaches, and staff from D.C. United, the Chicago Fire, Columbus Crew and Charleston Battery were all mingling with each other and sharing a bond that all players endure – preseason. The luncheon was held at Three Lions Pub, located at Blackbaud Stadium and open to fans before and after games. The beautiful pub includes photos, signed balls, trophies and other memorbilia from around the soccer world. It is a must-see for any United fans attending this weeks' tournament. 


LOCAL MEDIA

The local media was out in full force for yesterday’s Carolina Challenge Cup media luncheon to speak with the various teams’ players and coaches. 2011 MLS MVP Dwayne De Rosario took the time to sit down with the Charleston Post and Courier sports writer Andrew Miller for “The Two Minute Drill,” a Sunday feature highlighting athletes and their unique stories.
