UPDATE: BRAZILIAN SET FOR TRIAL
General Manager Dave Kasper has informed us that Brazilian defender Guilherme has also received the necessary paperwork to enter the country and will arrive in DC on Saturday. The 20-year old left back plays for Botafogo of Brazil's Serie A. Guilherme will join the team for training on Monday and also accompany the squad to Charleston, SC.
On Thursday, the team officially completed its 10-day camp in Scottsdale, Arizona. The technical staff gave the team Friday-Sunday off, so most players returned to DC to enjoy the long weekend before resuming training on Monday. The team will train Monday-Wednesday in the DC area before departing for Charleston, SC to compete in the Carolina Challenge Cup with the Columbus Crew, Chicago Fire and host Charleston Battery.
On Sunday, D.C. United supporters club Screaming Eagles will hold its annual Meet the Coach event with Ben Olsen. The event will take place at Ri Ra in Arlington (2915 Wilson Blvd.) from 2:30pm-5pm. Non-members are welcome to attend, so it's a great opportunity to explore joining up. Follow @ScreamingEagles on twitter and be sure to tweet your question for the Head Coach by using #AskBenny.
If you're heading to Saturday's Navy-Colgate men's basketball game (7pm) at Alumni Hall in Annapolis, keep an eye out for D.C. United mascot Talon, who will be participating in Mascot Mayhem with other local mascots.
