Three players selected in 2012 Supplemental Draft

2012 Supplemental Draft Picks

D.C.United announced today the club has selected three players in the 2012 MLSSupplemental Draft. The club drafted midfielder Lance Rozeboom (2ndround / 26th overall), defender Charles Rodriguez (3rd round/ 45th overall), and midfielder/forward Matthew Kuhn (4thround / 64th overall) via teleconference this afternoon.


“Wewere pleased today to be able to draft Lance, Charles and Matt,” said UnitedGeneral Manager Dave Kasper. “Each player has unique qualities and we lookforward to getting them into preseason camp with the team to fight for a rosterspot.”


Rozeboomwas a key member of the University of New Mexico’s undefeated 2011 season. The6-foot 1-inch midfielder started each of the team’s 22 games and collectedthree goals and two assists as the team finished 18-0-4. After starting six ofthe 16 games he played in during his freshman year, Rozeboom started every gamefrom his sophomore season through the end of his senior campaign – a total of57 consecutive games. He finished his career at New Mexico with six goals andfive assists in 78 games (68 starts).


Rodriguezwas a defensive stalwart for the Charlotte 49ers, starting all but one of 83games during a four-year career. Despite playing in the back line for themajority of his collegiate career, finished four years with six goals and fourassists. As a senior, Rodriguez served as the team’s captain and was named a1st Team NSCAA All-American after helping his team to the National Championshipgame for the first time in school history. In 2010, he was named the Atlantic10 Defensive Player of the Year and also scored three goals – all of which weregame-winners. After his freshman year in 2008, Rodriguez was named to the A-10All-Rookie Team and was also named as the Eagles’ Defensive MVP.


Kuhnstarted each of the 20 matches he played for Drake University during the 2011season, leading the team with 11 goals, registering four assists, and earningAll-Missouri Valley Conference first team honors. He also became the fifthBulldog to earn first-team All-MVC Scholar Athlete accolades three times, beinghonored in 2008, 2009 and 2011. Sidelined for the entire 2010 campaign due to apreseason knee injury, Kuhn started all 25 games played for the Bulldogs in2009, tallying five goals and seven assists. He started all 19 matches playedduring his sophomore season, contributing three goals and a team-best six assists.As a freshman, he was the second-leading scorer on the squad with six goals,while leading the team with six assists. Kuhn was also named to the MVCAll-Freshman squad.
