MLS Supporters Summit with Commissioner Garber

The Angel City Brigade, in collaboration with MLS and the LA Galaxy, will be hosting a live Q&A with Commissioner Garber during the Supporters Summit in Los Angeles, Calif. on Sunday, Nov. 20 beginning at 11:00 AM PT / 2:00 PM ET.


The Summit will be streamed live online here: http://www.mlssoccer.com/fans/supporters-summit/live. All fans are invited participate in the live event as Commissioner Garber will answer questions from attendees both in-person and on Twitter.


QUESTIONS VIA TWITTER: For your question to be eligible, the following elements MUST be included somewhere in the tweet text:


1. @MLS


  • This is how you refer to another Twitter user, by including their username/handle with the @ symbol in front of it (no spaces).
  • When you refer to another user by @username, they will receive a notification that you have mentioned them.


2. #AskGarber


  • A hashtag is a word or series of words with the symbol # in front of it (no spaces).
  • Hashtags denote a topic, rather than another user and can be used to filter conversations.
  • On Twitter hashtags are links to all tweets about that topic.
  • As you are writing, you will see a counter to the bottom right of the text box counting down the number of characters left. Tweets are a maximum of 140 characters, so choose your words carefully.


Once you have written your question, click “Tweet” below the text box. Your question has been sent!


Another optional hashtag to include is #MLSSupporters.


  • #MLSSupporters will be the official hashtag of the Supporters Summit, and should be used whenever possible when tweeting about the weekend’s events.
  • It is not required to ask a question because of space issues, but if your question is short feel free to include #MLSSupporters at the end.
  • If you want to follow the conversation around either the Q & A with Commisioner Garber (Link) or the Supporters Summit (Link) on Twitter, you can search for those topics hashtags by typing them in the search bar at the top of the screen.


AN INTRODUCTION TO TWITTER (Twitter 101)

Twitter is absolutely free and you can sign up at: Twitter.com


  • Your username or handle is how people will refer to you.
  • Under Twitter.com/settings/account, you can customize your profile with an image and information about yourself.
  • Do not check the Protect my tweets box. Otherwise no one will be able to see your question


Once you finish setting up your account go to the main landing page at Twitter.com


  • At the top of the left hand side you will see a large white box that says “What’s happening?” Here is where you enter your question text (Also know as your ‘tweet’).


Here are some common abbreviations used on Twitter:


  • r = are
  • u = you
  • b/c = because
  • wd = would
  • wn = when
