Conor Shanosky among 24 called to U-20 camp

Thomas Rongen called in 24 players for the final US Under-20 camp of the year, and the ranks include three MLS players: Philadelphia Union duo Amobi Okugo and Jack McInerney, as well as D.C. United midfielder Conor Shanosky.

The squad will train in Sunrise, Fla., from Dec. 12-19 and play will play friendlies against Canada on Dec. 16 and Dec. 18. The group features 11 players from the college ranks, 10 professionals and three who are unattached.

Joe Gyau makes his return to the youth-team ranks, while Derby County's Conor Doyle comes to his first camp. Eight other teenagers will debut as well, including Queens, N.Y.-born goalkeeper Kevin Piedrahita, who currently plays for Colombian club América de Cali.

The camp isn't all newcomers, however. Veterans such as Dillon Powers, Gale Agbossoumonde, Omar Salgado, Perry Kitchen and Zac MacMath will anchor the group.

The week in Sunrise represents one of the last opportunities to impress Rongen and the rest of the coaching staff before preparations begin in earnest for April's CONCACAF Championship. The Americans will look to finish at least in the top four to earn a berth in the 2011 U-20 World Cup in Colombia.
