N-tieractive takes Corporate Cup Trophy

2010 Corporate Cup Winners

A team represented N-tieractive Incorporated won D.C. United's Sixth Annual Corporate Cup presented by Hooters. A four-v-four tournament held last Saturday on United's turf training field, Corporate Cup hosted four groups of four teams battling for corporate soccer supremacy.

N-tieractive won Group 3, which consisted of teams from Bobby Van's Grill, The Sofitel Hotel and The Motley Fool. N-tieractive then defeated Coastal Sunbelt #1 in the quarterfinal, before earning passage by Coastal Sunbelt #2 (by default). N-tieractive then went on to play Palmer Brothers in a highly competitive final. Palmer Brothers forced overtime with a late tally, but N-tieractive eventually took home the trophy early in the extra period with a Golden Goal.

Palmer Brothers emerged from Group 1, which some in attendance may have considered the 'Group of Death.' The group included a team representing Manhattan Construction and two sides from Southern Management. After advancing to the knockout rounds, Palmer Brothers defeated Booz Allen Hamilton in the quarterfinals and Sofitel Hotel in the semis before falling short of the title.

Group 2 consisted of Bank-Fund Staff Federal Credit Union, Coastal Sunbelt #1, Shapiro & Duncan, and TDI. Sharpiro & Duncan won the group, with Coastal Sunbelt also advancing to the quarterfinals.

Group 4 consisted of Booz Allen Hamilton, Friedman Billings Ramsey Capital Markets, Coastal Sunbelt #2 and Volkswagen. Coastal Sunbelt #2 won this group with Booz Allen Hamilton also advancing to the quarterfinals.
