A few fans have noticed at recent games that the goals in play are no longer the international-style frames that have been in use throughout the season. Inquiring minds want to know why.
Major League Soccer has asked that all stadiums hosting League matches meet minimum specifications. The decision meant that the field at RFK Stadium would need to be altered slightly. For us, the decision meant reverting to the old goals as the permanent postholes that held the international goals in place cannot be easily moved.
We’ll finish the 2010 campaign using the older frames and have plans to relocate the international frames for use throughout the 2011 campaign.
