D.C. United sign Argentine Pablo Hernandez

D.C. United announced their first signing of the upcomingtransfer window on Thursday.


The four-time MLS Cup champs inked 23-year-old Argentineforward Pablo Hernandez on loan from Uruguayan club Defensor Sporting. He is expected to be available beginning onJuly 15, when the transfer window opens and United plays Seattle at RFK.


DC General Manager Dave Kasper sees the upside in the youngArgentine, who has played in the Uruguayan first division in the last twoseasons with Racing Club and most recently Defensor Sporting .


“He is a very technical player with great athletic qualitieswho makes things happen around the goal,” Kasper said.


He started his career in Argentina with Atletico Tucuman asan 18 year-old and helped the club move up from the third to the seconddivision in 2007-2008.
