United Reads pairs up with Walden Books Gaithersburg to distribute books and toys at Reading Corner

Washington, D.C. (February 2, 2010) - D.C. United and its charitable arm, United for D.C., announced today they will be partnering with Walden Books Gaithersburg to distribute books and toys as part of the foundation’s United Reads initiative. The distribution event will be held Wednesday, February 3 at the Children’s Health Center, where United Reads operates one of three Reading Corners.


Over the holiday season, United for D.C. was chosen as the beneficiary for Walden Books Gaithersburg’s book and toy drive. Each year the store runs a holiday book & bear drive where customers are encouraged to purchase children’s books or the season’s Waldenbooks exclusive holiday bear all to benefit the selected charity. United defender Marc Burch, team mascot Talon and D.C. United staff will be on hand to donate eight boxes of items to the Reading Corner at Children's Health Center.
