D.C. United acquires defender David Habarugira

Washington, D.C. (August 14, 2009) - D.C. United announced today the club has acquired defender David Habarugira. Habarugira completed a trial with the team earlier this summer and will join the Black-and-Red this weekend.

“David is a versatile defender with a big upside,” said General Manager Dave Kasper. “He has been in a structured environment for the last several years and has all the tools to be a successful player.”

Habarugira has earned six caps with the Burundi National Team. His debut came as a starter on June 1, 2008 in a World Cup qualifying match against Seychelles. He then went on to start the next five qualifiers Burundi played last year.
