We'll soon officially announce the club has acquired central defender Dejan Jakovic. The 23-year old Canadian comes to the team via a transfer from Red Star Belgrade (Serbia), who he signed with last summer. With Red Star, he made three league and two UEFA cup appearances.
Prior to joining Red Star, Jakovic spent three years at the University of Alabama-Birmingham, where he twice earned First-Team All Region honors.
The promising defender made his full Canada National Team debut on January 30, 2008 in a friendly against Martinique and played every minute of the U-23 team's four games in Olympic Qualifying last summer.
