There’s just something about Dwayne De Rosario and the US Open Cup.

After scoring a hat trick against Philadelphia one round prior, D.C. United’s captain scored the game-winning goal against the New England Revolution with a header in the 69th minute to help D.C. advance to the semifinal round, 3-1, in Wednesday night’s quarterfinal match at the SoccerPlex in Boyds, Md.

After being relegated to the bench in D.C. United’s previous match against New England, Dwayne De Rosario showed he has plenty left to offer Wednesday against the Philadelphia Union in the fourth round of the US Open Cup.

D.C.’s captain scored a hat trick to help his club to a 3-1 victory on a pleasant night at the Maryland SoccerPlex, giving the home team, winless in league play since March 9, a much-needed victory.
