WASHINGTON – In one of the most dramatic finishes of the MLS season, the Chicago Fire scored two stoppage time goals to overturn a 90th minute Dwayne De Rosario penalty kick and stay alive in the playoff chase with a 2-1 win over D.C. United at RFK Stadium on Saturday night.

VANCOUVER, B.C. – The Vancouver Whitecaps scored within the first minute of each half to claim a victory over D.C. United on Wednesday night in front of 17,288 at BC Place.

The win brings the ‘Caps to 28 points and pushes them off the bottom of the MLS table, as they leapfrog the New England Revolution.

For United, the loss puts a massive dent in their push for a wildcard playoff spot. The club continues to sit five points back of ninth-placed New York Red Bulls and 10th-placed Houston Dynamo with only three matches remaining.

LITTLE FALLS, NJ – The New York Red Bulls and D.C. United Reserve Teams drew 1-1 on Thursday afternoon at Montclair State University Soccer Park at Pittser Field. Cristhyan Najar scored for the visitors in the 55th minute before New York’s Corey Hertzog tied the game 30 minutes later.

COLUMBUS – Eddie Gaven made a dramatic return from nearly two months on the injured list to score in the 60th minute as the Crew rallied, and then held on to defeat D.C. United 2-1 on Sunday to snap a six-game winless streak and regain second place in the chaotic Eastern Conference.

Gaven had been out since suffering a bruised bone on his right leg August 5 at Colorado, but the tireless midfielder put in a diving header from 12 yards thanks to a rare foray upfield by defender Sebastian Miranda.

CHESTER, Pa. – Sébastien Le Toux’s brace and Michael Farfan’s one-goal, one-assist evening lifted the Philadelphia Union to a critical 3-2 victory over visiting D.C. United in a nationally televised showdown Thursday night at PPL Park.

The win vaults Philadelphia (10-7-13, 43 points) from fourth place into second place in the crowded Eastern Conference, just one point behind conference leader Sporting Kansas City.

WASHINGTON – Dwayne De Rosario scored the fastest hat trick in MLS history and D.C. United vaulted right back into the postseason race on Saturday night with a 4-1 win over Real Salt Lake at RFK Stadium.

De Rosario scored all three of his goals in the first 31 minutes of the match, which put a screeching halt to Real Salt Lake’s five-game winning streak and put D.C. on the edge of the playoff picture.

WASHINGTON — Juan Pablo Ángel’s second-half brace rallied Chivas USA from two-goal hole as they drew 2-2 in the nation’s capital against D.C. United on Wednesday night.

Eleven days after the two teams last played — a 3-0 win for United — Chivas mustered a much strong effort, overcoming set-piece goals from Dwayne De Rosario and Ethan White, and a late penalty miss by De Rosario, to come away with a point.

Rosales assists twice as Sounders bolster postseason credentials

SEATTLE — Mauro Rosales padded his credentials for end-of-season honors with two more assists, as the Seattle Sounders dispatched visiting D.C. United at CenturyLink Field on Saturday night, 3-0.

After a cagey beginning with few scoring opportunities, the game started to open up after 30 minutes. Seattle nearly broke through off a corner kick, but Fredy Montero couldn’t latch onto a flicked header at the back post. DC responded with a promising counterattack, but Joseph Ngwenya’s attempt was scooped up by Kasey Keller.

CARSON, Calif. — Charlie Davies scored a hat trick off three assists by Chris Pontius as D.C. United surged back into the playoff race with a commanding 3-0 victory over Chivas USA at the Home Depot Center on Saturday night.

The pair led DC throughout the match, but were eventually stopped after Pontius suffered an injury late in the match that required him to helped off the field with the aid of a stretcher.

KANSAS CITY, Kan. – Kei Kamara scored his seventh goal of the season and Kansas City put up a shutout as Sporting KC defeated D.C. United 1-0 Sunday night in front of 15,352 fans at Livestrong Sporting Park.

As they have for much of their current home stand, Kansas City grabbed the initiative from the opening kick, threatening United’s goal just thirty seconds into the game.
