A flurry of player activity on Friday afternoon saw two sides looking for defensive help address their needs.

The San Jose Earthquakes acquired former US U-20 international Tim Ward from the Chicago Fire in exchange for a conditional pick in the 2011 SuperDraft. In another deal, D.C. United have acquired Columbus Crew defender Jed Zayner and a fourth-round 2011 SuperDraft pick in exchange for a 2012 second-round SuperDraft pick.

D.C. United anunció hoy que el club ha fichado al defensor Jed Zayner y recibe una selección de cuarta ronda del MLS SuperDraft 2011 del Columbus Crew a cambio de una selección de segunda ronda del SuperDraft 2012.


“Estamos contentos haber adquirido a Jed”, dijo el gerente general de United, Dave Kasper. “Es in zaguero atlético y trabajador quien nos proveerá profundidad. Nos entusiasma que se una a los entrenamientos del equipo”.

Washington, D.C. (August 6, 2010) - D.C. United today announced the club has acquired defender Jed Zayner from the Columbus Crew in return for a 2012 second round MLS SuperDraft selection. In addition, United will receive Columbus’ 2011 fourth round SuperDraft selection in the deal.

“We are pleased to have concluded a trade for Jed,” said United General Manager Dave Kasper. “He is a hard working, athletic defender who will be a solid addition to our backline. We are excited to have Jed as a member of our club.”

WASHINGTON— Visiblemente consternado por la salida de su “amigo” Curt Onalfo de la dirección técnica del D.C.
