CHICAGO – Ballots have been finalized for the National Soccer Hall of Fame Class of 2011 and voting will begin immediately for the Player, Veteran Player and Builder categories. Voting will continue through March 11, and the election results will be announced in early Spring.
So Charlie Davies has signed with D.C. United on a 12-month loan. Let the speculation begin.
It seems as if everyone is the US soccer scene—including Davies himself—is hoping to see the onetime US international return to full health in the same town where his career—and his life—nearly came to an end a year-and-a-half ago.

In a separate transaction, United has acquired allocation money from the LA Galaxy in exchange for an international roster spot.

The United States Soccer Federation announced details of this year's Lamar Hunt US Open Cup on Thursday as the nation's oldest annual soccer tournament enters its 98th edition.
Similar to England's FA Cup and other domestic knockout tournaments throughout the world, the US Open Cup is, as the name suggests, open to almost all teams throughout the nation, whether professional or amateur.
The Cup's first round gets underway on June 14 with 16 games. In all, five rounds lead to the final on Oct. 4.
