As an affiliate club, Arlington Soccer Association (ASA) is one of the primary soccer clubs D.C. United looks to for identifying and developing top youth talent in the region. Not only are ASA players scouted and brought in to play for D.C. United, but all levels of ASA teams benefit from the quality and consistency of the affiliate program. In this young relationship, D.C. United wants to share coaching and training resources with ASA that will improve players, coaches and teams.
This past weekend, the Black-and-Red played at fellow MLS Developmental Academy rival the Philadelphia Union. D.C. United went 1-1-1 over the weekend with the U-18s coming home with a tie, the U-16s with a loss and the U-14s with another convincing win. Games were played at YSC in Wayne, Pa.
Seven D.C. United Academy alums featured in the Maryland v. Wake Forest matchup on Saturday, Oct. 19 in College Park, Md. This Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) rivalry has always been a heated battle in which everyone is familiar with one another. For seven of those players, it’s not just familiarity, but a brotherhood. Four DCU alums, Mikias Eticha, Suli Dainkeh, Cody Niedermeier and Michale Sauers play for Maryland and three, Rafael Fagundo, Ian Harkes and Jalen Robinson play for Wake Forest.

Washington, D.C. (September 9, 2013) – To open their respective 2013-14 U.S. Soccer Development Academy (USSDA) seasons, D.C. United’s U-18, U-16 and U-14 Academy teams took on regional rival Baltimore Bays Chelsea this past Saturday at Morven Park in Leesburg, Va. While the U-16s lost 2-1, the U-18s and U-14s both drew Baltimore 1-1.
Following a competitive Generation adidas Cup regional event this past weekend, the U-18, U-16 and U-14 D.C. United Academy teams will begin the 2013-14 U.S. Soccer Development Academy (USSDA) regular season Saturday, Sept. 7. This season marks the first time all three youth squads will play in the USSDA as the U-14 team, considered Pre-Academy in 2012-13, joins the U-16 and U-18 squads that have been members since the Academy’s inaugural season in 2007.
D.C. United today announced its rosters for the 2013-2014 Academy teams. Seventy-two players from the greater Washington, D.C. region were selected for the Black-and-Red’s Academy squads: 25 on the U-14 team, 23 on the U-16 side and 24 on the U-18 team roster.
