The D.C. United Academy has added Luciano Emilio Soccer Academy (LESA) FC as the seventh Official Academy Affiliate Club Member. LESA FC was founded and is run by former D.C. United player Luciano Emilio. Under the Affiliation agreement, LESA will serve as a source for D.C. United in identifying and developing top youth talent in the region. United will share its coaching resources and will work with the Club to develop players.
Arlington Soccer Association
Arlington Soccer Association has four travel teams ranked nationally in the top 10. According to the most recent rankings published by GotSoccer, the U-17 Boys Strikers Red is ranked 4th, the U-16 Boys Impact Red is ranked 4th, the U-15 Boys Attack Red is ranked 6th and the U-14 Boys Eagles Red is ranked first nationally. There is no other club in the country that has more teams ranked in the top ten.
The D.C. United U-23 National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) team has announced three tryout dates. The team will feature top collegiate, international and domestic players from around the D.C. area, and will compete in the Mid-Atlantic Conference in the NPSL. The team will train three times a week, May-July, and have one game every weekend.
Chandler Vaughn (Woodbridge, Va.; Prince William Soccer Inc.) and Jose Carranza (Manassas, Va.; Northern Virginia Soccer Club) were both called into Boy’s National Team Camps that were held this past week in Carson, Calif. Vaughn participated in the U-14s Camp and Carranza in the U-15s Camp. Both players trained with their respective age groups and played in competitive games against Development Academy teams during the week.
Both Carranza and Vaughn expressed that consistency with the National Team has really helped them with physical and mental preparation.
D.C. United U-16 midfielder Patrick Jean-Gilles has been called into the U-18 National Team Camp to be held April 4-13 in Carson, Calif. While in California, Jean-Gilles will participate in the training camp and play in international matches against Canada and Mexico.
Jean-Gilles is part of a 24-man roster, made up only of players born in 1997, as Head Coach Javier Perez prepares for the U-20 World Cup cycle in three years.
