D.C. United anunció hoy que realizará pruebas abiertas para el Programa de Entrenamiento de Verano del Sub-11 y Sub-13 el 6 de julio, 2011 en el Campo de Entrenamiento de RFK a las 5:00 p.m. Hora del Este.
Al finalizar las pruebas, 50 jugadores serán seleccionados para participar en el programa de entrenamiento basado en habilidad y edad. Para poder realizar las pruebas los jugadores deberán haber nacido entre el 1 de enero, 1997 y el 31 de diciembre, 1999.
D.C. United announced today that it will hold open tryouts for its U-11 and U-13 Summer Training Program on July 6, 2011 at D.C. United’s Training Complex (RFK Stadium Training Fields) at 5:00 p.m. ET.
By the end of the tryout process, players will be selected to participate in the Training Program based on skill level and age. Players must be born between January 1, 1997 and December 31, 1999 in order to tryout.

D.C. United’s U-16 and U-18 Youth Academy teams returned to Washington, D.C. this week after unsuccessful group stage outings at the U.S. Soccer Development Academy National Playoffs in Frisco, Tx. United was one of only two academies to have two teams qualify for the postseason after both the U-16’s and U-18’s won division titles in the Mid-Atlantic Division.
The U-18’s (15-8-7) opened the tournament on a high note on Friday, June 24, defeating Empire United 3-0. Mikias Eticha, Marcus Salandy-Defour, and Lester Dewee each bagged a goal en route to the victory.

Both squads earned automatic qualification into the National Playoffs after finishing atop the Mid-Atlantic Division table. This marks the first time in club history that both the U-16 and U-18 squads earned first place in their respective division during the same campaign.
FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – It was Major League Soccer’s all-time leading scorer Jaime Moreno’s first game at the helm of United’s newly formed Under-23 Academy team. Early on it was easy to see his new club resembled its head man’s game, hustling its way into early scoring chances.
In the first minute, D.C. United forward Marco Mangione deflected a pass in front of the Hotspur goal which forced Fredericksburg Hotspur goalkeeper Ryan Taylor to make a diving save. They threatened again just four minutes later, drawing a penalty kick which was shot wide by midfielder Paul Torres.

After winning the Mid-Atlantic Conference in the U.S. Soccer Federation Development Academy League at both the U-16 and U-18 age levels, D.C. is traveling to Texas to begin competing in the Development Academy Playoffs at Pizza Hut Park.
D.C. United’s newly-formed U-23 squad will kick-off its inaugural season against Fredericksburg Hotspur on Tuesday, June 21 on the campus of University of Mary Washington at 6:00 p.m. ET.
Tuesday will mark the head coaching debut of United legend Jaime Moreno, with the former striker making a transition to coaching after 15 success-filled MLS seasons. Moreno retired on October 23, 2010 in D.C. United’s 2 season finale against Toronto FC. He is still Major League Soccer’s all-time leading scorer with 133 tallies.
