D.C. United and Louis Crayton part ways
Club to not exercise goalkeeper’s contract option
Washington, D.C. (June 25, 2009) - D.C. United announced today that the club will not exercise the option on Louis Crayton’s contract, ending the goalkeeper’s one-year stay with the Black-and-Red. Crayton’s current deal is set to expire June 30, at which time the club will have a roster spot available in advance of the summer transfer window.
“We'd like to thank Louis for his contributions to D.C. United, which included a U.S. Open Cup title,” said D.C. United General Manager Dave Kasper. “We wish him the best of luck in the future.”
Crayton played in six games (all starts) for the Black-and-Red this season, compiling a 2-1-3 record with a 1.33 goals-against-average. He origianlly signed with the club as a senior international last August 15, making his MLS debut the following day against the Chicago Fire, where he made two saves in securing the 1-0 shutout win. On the year, Crayton played in 12 games (all starts) and put together a record of 3-6-3 in League play, earning four shutouts and a goals-against-average of 1.58. He was between the pipes - and made one save - in United’s 2-1 U.S. Open Cup championship win over the Charleston Battery.
