D.C. United are partnering with ABC7 and NewsChannel 8 to host a back-to-school student supplies drive that will benefit the United Way of the National Capital Area’s “Stuff the Bus” campaign. The drive will be held on Thursday, August 10, from 7 AM - 7 PM at the Safeway located at 415 14th St, SE, Washington, D.C., 20003.

Fans are encouraged to drop off backpacks and school supplies that will be used to help middle school students start school with everything they need to succeed this year. Monetary donations are also welcome.

D.C. United players along with ABC7 talent will be on site to collect school supplies and monetary donations during the day-long drive. United and ABC7 have also made monetary donations to the cause that will help provide backpacks to families in need throughout the region.

D.C. United, ABC7 and NewsChannel 8 hope to collect over 1,000 backpacks and school supplies for those in need during the first-year campaign. As part of a five-year, $12.3M Community Commitment, United Way of the National Capital Area has made it their mission to focus on putting promising but at-risk middle school students on the path to timely graduation.  Equipping these students with the school supplies they need is one important tool to help them stay on track.

For those that cannot attend the drive on August 10, D.C. United will be hosting a secondary drive on Saturday, August 12, at RFK Stadium. The August 12 drive will take place at the Lot 8 Tailgate prior to United’s home match against Real Salt Lake.
