On Thursday, D.C. United midfielder Collin Martin, play-by-play announcer Dave Johnson and staff partnered with the Capital Area Food Bank to sort and pack food boxes for local residents in need. The group helped pack over 2,000 pounds of food, translating to nearly 1,700 meals for those who are food-insecure in the community.

The Capital Area Food Bank is the largest organization in the Washington metro area working to solve hunger and its companion problems: chronic undernutrition, heart disease, and obesity. By partnering with local community organizations, the CAFB is helping 540,000 people each year get access to good, healthy food.

All of the food sorted will be used by CAFB’s Direct Distribution programs: Family Markets which benefits local families, Weekend Bags which benefit children, and Community Marketplace which benefits seniors, families and children.
