Looking Back at D.C. United's Year in the Community

Throughout 2015, D.C. United committed to community-oriented initiatives designed to benefit District communities and expose the public, particularly the youth population, to the philanthropic ideals supported by the club. Transforming the team’s community focus, D.C. United turned their attention to championing health and wellness programs in an effort to improve the quality of life for citizens in the Washington Metropolitan region.

Improving Lives
With a focus on health & wellness and youth soccer initiatives, D.C. United seek to promote the personal growth of local youth by improving their physical fitness while deepening their connection to their community.

  • In partnership with numerous local community groups, D.C. United donated more than $200,000 to support local youth development programs in the Washington Metropolitan area. 
  • Team and foundation community programming reached over 3,000 local youth.
  • D.C. United and DC SCORES announced a partnership to serve more than 2,000 young people across the District of Columbia.
  • Through MLS’ 20-for-20 Mini Pitch initiative, D.C. United, MLS WORKS, Adidas, US Soccer Foundation, DC SCORES and Southern New Hampshire University donated a state-of-the-art mini-pitch to Capital City Charter School.
  • D.C. United donated $5,000 worth of new soccer equipment to local youth through the MLS WORKS Every Save Makes a Difference program.


Uniting Communities
Harnessing the power of sport, D.C. United are committed to supporting programs and non-profit organizations that make a positive impact throughout the Washington metropolitan area.

  • D.C. United donated more than 400 autographed items and ticket packages to local community groups, valued at more than $29,000.
  • Through a unique partnership with Most Valuable Kids DC, D.C. United donated over 400+ tickets to various non-profit organizations that serve low-income youth. 
  • D.C. United players actively participated in the community on a regular basis, including over 70 player appearances throughout the Washington metropolitan area in 2015.
