Q&A: D.C. United's 2015 SuperDraft Pick Miguel Aguilar

Today, D.C. United selected Miguel Aguilar, a midfielder out of the University of San Francisco, with the 17th pick of the 2015 MLS SuperDraft. We caught up with the excited, soon-to-be rookie so we could all get to know each other better.

Describe today. Are you at home? What are you doing?
Miguel Aguilar: Yeah, I am home. I am very emotional and very grateful for the opportunity and being able to share this with my family is the greatest feeling. Seeing my mom's reaction when my name was called up is the best thing.

Now you've got a big move to the East Coast. How are you feeling about that?
MA: It's not a big deal. I'm just happy to be able to play at such a great club, and the move isn’t a big deal. I know my family supports me in every decision I make; they’ll be behind me throughout my whole journey.

For our fans who haven't seen you play, how do you describe yourself?
MA: I would describe myself as a creative player with pace. I like to get out wide and create some width for the team, go at people, run at people and cut inside and gt a shot off or go outside and get a cross off. I would say I am a dynamic, creative type of player.

Outside of soccer, what do you like to do off the field? Do you have any hobbies?
MA: I’m a movie junkie. And I like going on hikes and exploring. In San Francisco, I know the city pretty well because a lot of times, I just hopped on a bus and got lost and tried to find my way back home. I'm a guy that likes doing new things, I like exploring new things.

As a movie buff, what are your top movies?
MA: Definitely Batman. I’m a big Batman fan. The Batman trilogy with Christian Bale is one of my favorites. I like comedy a lot, I am a big Will Ferrell fan. I like Talladega Nights.

Any player on the roster you look forward to playing with most?
MA: I’m just really excited to compete and earn my place. I’m just really excited to get there.

Welcome to the club, Miguel!
