Today, Markus Halsti joined D.C. United's 2015 squad. Dcunited.com caught up with the experienced Finnish International to find out what he was most excited for, what qualities he will bring to the roster and how he is feeling about his move to the States.

You've played in Sweden for seven years, and now you're coming over to the US. How are you feeling about the change?
Markus Halsti: I'm feeling great and excited about coming to play for D.C. United. Of course, it was emotional for me to leave Malmö after 7 years, but I'll do everything with D.C. United to achieve as much here as I did there.

Outside of soccer, what are you most looking forward to about your move to the States?
MH: First of all, that we, as a family, have a good place to live and that we can enjoy our time together in an interesting city, that was one of the reasons why I chose DC. To experience a totally new continent, new culture and new cities is something that I am really looking forward to. Probably in the beginning it feels quite strange to walk in the streets of the city, seeing all the buildings that we have seen on TV on the other side of the world.

You're an experienced player, coming to D.C. United with three championships in the last four years. What qualities will you add to the roster?
MH: I think I can bring a lot of leadership and a winning mentality, even though the team has it, proving that in winning the conference last season. Then of course, as I can play different positions, I can be a useful player for the manager. Lastly, I'm a player with big heart, with a good passing foot and who can read the game.

What made MLS, specifically D.C. United, appealing to you?
MH: After talking with Ben [Olsen] and Dave [Kasper], I got a really good feeling about the team and the whole organization. Then after checking around about the city, we decided that this feels like the best option for me and for our family. The League is getting better all the time, so that of course helped to make the decision. Also that the team has already qualified to the quarter-finals in the CONCACAF Champions League played a big role. As I played last year in the UEFA's Champions League, I know how special those kind of games are.

For our fans in D.C., what should they look forward to both on and off the field?
MH: A team player who always gives everything for the teammates and for the fans. I am a positive, honest and demanding Finnish guy. Sometimes maybe a little bit too honest, especially if I haven't played well.

By the way, I want to thank everybody who welcomed me to D.C. United in Twitter.
