As Christmas inches closer, D.C. United found a way to help ensure the holiday will be special for those who need extra help this season. On December 11, D.C. United joined the Salvation Army National Capital Area Command through its Angel Tree Program to package donated Christmas gifts for families in the District.

D.C. United front office staff and first team player Conor Doyle attended the event, at the former Malcolm X Elementary School. The group of 20 volunteers helped by putting together gift bags, organizing donated toys, taking inventory and labeling gifts.

The Salvation Army Angel Tree Program serves families who apply for emergency holiday help, in hopes of receiving toys, clothes, and other items to make Christmas happen. This event was one of several holiday initiatives by D.C. United.
