Everything you need to know about the Buzzard Point Stadium Open House

New Stadium Renderings - 2014 February

When and where is the “Open House” for the proposed soccer stadium at Buzzard Point?
The “Open House” is scheduled for Tuesday, September 30 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The location is 100 M Street, SE on the 8th Floor. If taking Metro, it’s just steps away from the Green Line Navy Yard Station. Parking is also available in the building.

Why is the city hosting an open house on the proposed soccer stadium at Buzzard Point in Ward 6?
Local community input is important to the development team. Since announcing plans earlier this year, the District, D.C. United and Akridge have participated in extensive community outreach activities, hearings and community meetings about the project. This is another opportunity for members to receive the very latest planning updates and answers to any questions they may have in an informal setting.

Who can attend the open house and what can attendees expect to learn about the project?
All members of the public are invited to attend. Representatives, government officials and key consultants will be available to answer questions from the public one-on-one. No formal presentations will be given to ensure focus is given to each attendee’s specific questions in an efficient manner. Light refreshments and a kids’ play area will be provided. The open house will provide comprehensive information related to planned traffic operations, housing, environmental clean-up, jobs and economic development aspects of the project.

Will there be more open house events coming up?
Currently, this open house is the only one scheduled to address the direct stadium impacts in Ward 6. The project development team is actively conducting community outreach through several means to fully educate the public about the stadium legislation, including civic group presentations and events, door-to-door canvassing of residents in multiple wards, and individual stakeholder meetings.
