For the first time since suffering a knee injury on June 11 against Montreal, Fabián Espíndola has returned to full training with the team. The Argentinean forward still leads the Black-and-Red in both goals (7) and assists (8) and is expected back within the next few weeks.
Chris Pontius is still recovering from his surgery in late April, but has recently started jogging and working out on the training field with D.C. United physical therapists. There is no update on his scheduled date of return.
Jeff Parke, who hasn’t played a game since injuring his foot against Sporting Kansas City on May 31, is now dealing with migraines and is out indefinitely. Parke started the first 13 games of the season for the Black-and-Red and anchored one of the League’s best defenses alongside Bobby Boswell.
Also, at training today was Lee Ki-Je, a 23-year-old South Korean left back who plays for Japanese club Shimizu S-Pulse. The former South Korean U-20 National Team player is currently on trial with the club.
