D.C. United to participate in Three Kings Day with DC Metropolitan Police Department-Latino Liaison Unit

Three Kings Day

D.C. United today announced that it will be participating in the 10th annual Three Kings Day gift giving event held by the DC Metropolitan Police Department-Latino Liaison Unit (LLU) on Monday, Jan. 13 from 5-9 p.m. EST. The event will be held at the LLU offices at 18th and Columbia Road NW and will kick-off the start of the 2014 United Builds season.

“In the Latino community, Three Kings Day is just as big as Christmas, and we’re excited to be collaborating with the Metropolitan Police Department-Latino Liaison Unit on this initiative,” said D.C. United Director of Community Relations Victor Melara. “This marks the first of many volunteer events that we will participate in over the course of the 2014 season.”

Three Kings Day is the celebration of when the three Magi brought gifts to the infant Jesus, and will be celebrated by giving toys to over 500 underprivileged children in the greater Washington, D.C. area. In collaboration with the LLU to increase communication with the Latino community, the Black-and-Red will serve as a collaborating partner in its first year of participation.
