United added three new faces to the team in the past week. Two of the three, Jared Jeffrey and Luis Silva earned starts for the Black-and-Red while Collin Martin entered the match in the 68 minute. In addition, Michael Seaton, Andrew Dykstra, and Alam Syamsir saw their first action for the first team in the 1-1 draw against visiting Chivas de Guadalajara.
With Bill Hamid away at the Gold Cup with the National Team, United's net has most recently been filled by Joe Willis. The St. Louis native has pocketed 360 minutes thus far in the 2013 campaign, but tonight, Andrew Dykstra was able to enter the match for the majority of the second half. Dykstra made three all-important saves to keep the Black-and-Red up.
United striker, Carlos Ruis, who has been plagued with injury this season opened his scoring account. The goal, which will not count in the MLS Regular Season stats may serve as the ice breaker that United needs to get the ball rolling.
