Dwayne De Rosario

& Nick LaBrocca
Dwayne De Rosario and Nick LaBrocca spent the 2010 season together at Toronto FC after LaBrocca joined the Canadian side from the Colorado Rapids on 3/25/10. In that time, De Rosario made 27 appearances (24 starts), scored 15 goals and notched three assists. LaBrocca played 28 games (24 starts), scored once and added six assists.

Dwayne De Rosario and Brian Mullan played alongside each other for two different clubs, both representing the San Jose Earthquakes from 2003-2005 and staying together with the franchise when it relocated and became the Houston Dynamo from 2006-2008. Dwayne De Rosario and Marvell Wynne were teammates for the 2009 MLS season at Toronto FC after De Rosario was traded to the club from the Houston Dynamo on 12/12/08. Tony Cascio’s Connecticut (UConn) Huskies met Nick DeLeon’s Louisville Cardinals on 10/1/11, seeing Cascio and the Huskies top the Cardinals 1-0 in an overtime victory. Both players started the game. The two would meet again in the 2011 Big East Tournament, with precisely the same results. UConn would defeat Louisville 1-0 for the second time in 2011; DeLeon starting while Cascio would come on as a substitute.


& Brenton Griffiths
Brenton Griffiths’ University of South Florida (USF) Bulls met Nick DeLeon’s Louisville Cardinals on 10/18/11. Griffiths and the USF Bulls topped DeLeon’s Cardinals 3-1, with DeLeon converting a late penalty to get Louisville its lone goal in the match. Both players started the game.


& Kory Kindle
Kory Kindle’s California State University–Bakersfield (CSUB) and Nick DeLeon’s University of Nevada–Las Vegas (UNLV) Rebels met on 10/16/09. Kindle and his CSUB side downed DeLeon’s Rebels 3-1 in the match. Kindle started the match while DeLeon came on as a substitute.


& Dillon Powers
Dillon Powers’ Notre Dame Fighting Irish and Nick DeLeon’s Louisville Cardinals met on three occasions while each player represented their respective universities. The first match on 10/16/10 saw DeLeon and the Cardinals down Powers’ Fighting Irish 2-0; DeLeon netting the second goal of the match. The second matchup came not one month later on 11/12/10 during the 2010 Big East tournament, in which Louisville nabbed a 1-0 win over Notre Dame. The last time the two players met was on 9/24/11, Powers’ Fighting Irish was able to get a 1-0 win over the DeLeon and the Cardinals. Both players started all three games.


Taylor Kemp

Tony Cascio’s University of Connecticut (UConn) Huskies and Taylor Kemp’s (along with teammates Casey Townsend and Ethan White’s) Maryland Terrapins met on 10/5/10. Kemp, Townsend, White and the Terps would nab a 1-0 win over Cascio’s Huskies, with all players starting the match.


Brandon McDonald

& Edson Buddle
Brandon McDonald (and D.C. United teammate Carlos Ruiz) and Edson Buddle were together for the 2008 MLS season with the Los Angeles Galaxy after McDonald was selected in the fourth round, 46th overall of the 2008 MLS SuperDraft. In his lone season with the Galaxy, McDonald played 16 games (10 starts), scored once and added an assist. Buddle made 27 appearances (26 starts), scored 15 goals and notched three assists.


& Kamani Hill
Kamani Hill’s University of California–Los Angeles (UCLA) Bruins met Brandon McDonald’s University of San Francisco (USF) Dons on 9/17/06. Hill and the Bruins would hand McDonald’s USF Dons a 2-0 loss. Both players started the game.


Lionard Pajoy

& Danny Mwanga
Lionard Pajoy and Danny Mwanga were teammates with the Philadelphia Union for part of the 2012 season before Mwanga was traded to the Portland Timbers on 6/6/12. During that time, Pajoy appeared in 20 games (16 starts), scored five goals and notched two assists, while Mwanga played nine games (five starts) and added an assist.


Chris Pontius

& Kamani Hill
Kamani Hill’s UCLA Bruins and Chris Pontius’ University of California-Santa Barbara (UCSB) Gauchos met on three different occasions. The first matchup on 10/20/05 saw Hill (with Rapids teammate Marvell Wynne) and the Bruins hand the Gauchos a 1-0 loss, Hill getting the assist in the lone goal of the game. The second matchup would come a year later on 10/5/06, seeing UCLA topple UCSB 3-1. The third and final matchup would come on 12/3/06 – the 2006 College Cup final – in which Pontius and the Gauchos would grab a 2-1 victory over UCLA and be crowned the 2006 national champions.


& Marvell Wynne
Marvell Wynne’s (and Rapids teammate Kamani Hill’s) UCLA Bruins met Chris Pontius’ UCSB Gauchos on 10/20/05. Wynne, Hill and the Bruins would hand Pontius’ Gauchos a 1-0 loss, Hill getting the assist for the lone goal of the game.


James Riley

& Nick LaBrocca
James Riley (and D.C. United teammate Casey Townsend) played alongside Nick LaBrocca in the 2012 MLS season with Chivas USA, after being traded to the California side on 11/23/11 from the Montreal Impact. Riley started all 32 of the games he appeared in and notched two assists, while LaBrocca played 29 matches (26 starts), scored twice and added two assists.


& Nathan Sturgis
Nathan Sturgis and James Riley played together for Seattle Sounders FC from 2009-10, both players being selected in the 2008 MLS Expansion Draft with the second and eighth picks, respectively. In those two seasons, Riley made 55 appearances (54 starts), scored once and added seven assists. Sturgis played in 29 games (21 starts), tallied once and added two assists. The two also met in their college days, with Sturgis’ Clemson Tigers and James Riley’s Wake Forest Demon Deacons meeting on 10/22/04. Riley and the Demon Deacons trounced Sturgis’ Tigers 2-0 as both players started the game.


Alain Rochat

& Atiba Harris
Alain Rochat (alongside D.C. United teammate John Thorrington) and Atiba Harris played together for Vancouver Whitecaps FC from 2011-12, Harris being selected by Whitecaps FC with the fourth pick of the 2010 MLS Expansion Draft. In those two seasons, Rochat appeared in 55 games (54 starts), scored five goals and notched three assists. Harris played in 12 matches (eight starts), scored twice and added three assists.


Carlo Ruiz

& Edson Buddle
Carlos Ruiz (and D.C. United teammate Brandon McDonald) and Edson Buddle spent part of the 2008 MLS season together with the Los Angeles Galaxy before Ruiz was traded to Toronto FC on 8/19/08. The Guatemalan made 10 appearances (three starts) and scored once for the Galaxy in 2008. Buddle played 27 games (26 starts), tallied 15 goals and notched three assists.


& Drew Moor
Carlos Ruiz (and D.C. United teammate Marcelo Saragosa [2006-07]) and Drew Moor played together for three seasons from 2005-07 with FC Dallas after Moor was selected in the first round (sixth overall pick) of the 2005 MLS SuperDraft. During that time, Ruiz made 68 appearances (62 starts), scored 31 goals and added nine assists. Moor played 75 games (63 starts), scored three goals and notched an assist.

Carlos Ruiz played alongside Brian Mullan at the beginning of Ruiz’s first spell with the Los Angeles Galaxy in 2002. That year, Ruiz started all 26 games he appeared in, scored 24 goals and added an assist. Mullan played 21 times (10 starts), scored three times and notched two assists.

During their two years together with the Canadian club, Thorrington played 30 games (23 starts) and added an assist. John Thorrington and Matt Pickens spent three seasons with the Chicago Fire from 2005-07, both players helping the side win the 2006 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.
