Dwayne De Rosario
& Corey Hertzog
Dwayne De Rosario and Corey Hertzog spent part of the 2011 MLS season with the New York Red Bulls. De Rosario was traded to New York from Toronto FC on 4/1/11, and Hertzog was drafted in the first round (13th overall) of the 2011 MLS SuperDraft. In his time with New York, De Rosario made 13 appearances (12 starts), scored twice and notched four assists. In his first MLS season, Hertzog featured five times.
& Joe Cannon
Dwayne De Rosario’s first club in MLS was the San Jose Earthquakes, where he played alongside Joe Cannon – who started his MLS career with the then- San Jose Clash in the 2001 and 2002 MLS seasons. In those two years, De Rosario played 48 games (29 starts), scored nine goals and notched 12 assists. Cannon started all 51 of the games he played in the same period and earned 15 shutouts.
Nick DeLeon
& Greg Kalzura
Greg Kalzura’s Notre Dame Fighting Irish and Nick DeLeon’s Louisville Cardinals met on three occasions while each player represented their respective universities. The first match on 10/16/10 saw DeLeon and the Cardinals down Kalzura’s Fighting Irish 2-0; DeLeon netted the second goal of the match. The second matchup came not one month later during the 2010 Big East tournament, in which Louisville nabbed a 1-0 win over Notre Dame. The last time the two players met was on 9/24/11, as Kalzura’s Fighting Irish were able to get a 1-0 win over the Cardinals. Both players started all three games.
Taylor Kemp
& Corey Hertzog
Corey Hertzog’s Penn State Nittany Lions and Taylor Kemp’s (and teammates Casey Townsend and Ethan White’s) Maryland Terrapins met twice while the players represented their respective schools. In the first match on 11/22/09, Kemp, Townsend, White and the Terps would get a 2-1 win over Hertzog’s Nittany Lions. The second match came on 11/28/10, a game in which Kemp’s 88th minute strike would prove the game-winner in a 1-0 victory of over Penn State. All players started both games.

Corey Hertzog’s Penn State Nittany Lions and Perry Kitchen’s (and teammate Chris Korb’s) Akron zips met on 10/13/10. Hertzog netted the first goal of the match, however, Kitchen, Korb and the Zips would tally twice to get the 2-1 win. All players started the match.
& Darren Mattocks
Darren Mattocks and Perry Kitchen (along with teammate Chris Korb) played together with the 2010 College Cup-winning University of Akron Zips for one year (2010), with all players featuring in all 25 games that season for the Zips. Mattocks tallied an astounding 18 goals and added five assists, Kitchen tallied six goals and added an assist and Korb notched five assists. Mattocks would stay an additional year at Akron while Kitchen and Korb were selected in the 2011 MLS SuperDraft following the National Championship season.
Chris Korb
& Corey Hertzog
Corey Hertzog’s Penn State Nittany Lions and Chris Korb’s (and teammate Perry Kitchen [2010]) Akron Zips met twice while both players were attending their respective universities. In the first match on 10/28/09, Korb and Akron thrashed Hertzog and the Nittany Lions 3-0. The two met again a year later on 10/13/10. Hertzog would tally first to put his team up, however, Korb, Kitchen and the Zips would not be outdone, netting twice to get the 2-1 victory.

After being waived by the Los Angeles Galaxy, Brandon McDonald was signed by the San Jose Earthquakes on 3/20/09, where he joined Joe Cannon who was in his second spell with the club for the 2009 and 2010 MLS seasons. In that time, McDonald appeared in 47 games (46 starts), scored twice and added three assists. Cannon played and started 40 games and kept nine shutouts.
Sainey Nyassi
& Brad Knighton
Sainey Nyassi joined the New England Revolution in 2007, the same year as Brad Knighton, and the pair featured together for three seasons (2007-09). During that period, Nyassi appeared in 54 games (40 starts), tallied four times and notched two assists. Knighton appeared in six games, all of which were starts.
Chris Pontius
& Brad Rusin
Brad Rusin’s UCLA Bruins met Chris Pontius’ UCSB Gauchos on three different occasions while the two were attending their respective universities. In the first matchup on 10/5/06, Rusin’s UCLA toppled Pontius and the UCSB Gauchos 3-1. The second matchup would come on 12/3/06 – the 2006 College Cup final – in which Pontius’ UCSB would go on to a 2-1 winner over UCLA, being crowned the 2006 national champions. The third matchup on 10/1/08 saw UCLA and UCSB draw 2-2 (2OT), with Pontius netting the final equalizer for the Gauchos to get the tie. Both players started on all three meetings.
Kyle Porter
& Vancouver Whitecaps FC
Kyle Porter joined the Vancouver Whitecaps FC Residency program on 8/15/07 and scored five goals in 10 games for the side in its debut season in the Premier Development League in 2008. He then played one game for the senior side on 10/2/10 while they were part of the USSF D-2 Pro League, providing an assist in a 2-2 draw against the Portland Timbers.
James Riley
& Joe Cannon
James Riley spent the 2008 season with the San Jose Earthquakes, where he joined Joe Cannon as a teammate as he began his second spell with the Quakes. That year, Riley appeared in 24 games (23 starts) and notched two assists. Cannon started all 30 of the games he was involved in and kept nine shutouts.
& Brad Knighton
James Riley’s final season with the New England Revolution in 2007 was Brad Knighton’s first, having impressed while on trial with the club. That year, Riley played 27 games (22 starts), while Knighton had yet to make an appearance.
Alain Rochat
& Vancouver Whitecaps FC
Alain Rochat was with Vancouver Whitecaps FC for three seasons from 2011-13 before being traded to D.C. United on 6/6 in exchange for a 2015 second-round MLS SuperDraft Pick and a conditional pick in 2016. Rochat made 67 appearances (65 starts) during that time for Whitecaps FC, scored five goals and notched three assists.
Carlos Ruiz
& Jordan Harvey
Carlos Ruiz re-entered MLS in 2011 with the Philadelphia Union on 2/22/11 after signing from Aris in Macedonia, spending that year playing alongside Jordan Harvey. Ruiz played 14 times (13 starts) and scored six goals, while Harvey started all 14 of the matches he played and tallied four assists.
John Thorrington
& Vancouver Whitecaps FC
John Thorrington spent two seasons with Vancouver Whitecaps FC, having been acquired by the new MLS franchise in the Expansion Draft on 11/24/11. Thorrington made 30 appearances (23 starts) and added one assist for Whitecaps FC.

Brad Rusin’s UCLA Bruins and Casey Townsend’s Maryland Terrapins met on 8/28/08. The Bruins would go up early, however, Maryland would go on to a 2-1 victory in the match. Both players started the game.
