D.C. United, Rafael mutually agree to part ways

D.C. United and forward Rafael today announced that the two have mutually agreed to terminate his contract. The Brazilian international appeared in seven matches (four starts) this season, logging 331 minutes and notching one goal.

“We would like to thank Rafael for his time at D.C. United, and we wish him all the best in the future,” said D.C. United General Manager Dave Kasper.


Rafael was signed on loan from Brazilian Serie A side Bahia as a Young Designated Player on Jan. 9, 2013. The midfielder has previously represented Brazil at the 2011 Pan-American games, and made his debut for D.C. United in a 2-1 loss to the Columbus Crew on March 23.
