DeLeon Tale of Tape 13

In boxing, the tale of the tape is the pre-fight measurements between the two combatants. In 2013, we're telling the tale of the tape between D.C. United and its foe of the week.

300 All-Time Wins

With their victory over the Philadelphia Union on 06/12 in the U.S. Open Cup, D.C. United became the second team in MLS history to achieve 300 wins in all competitions. The LA Galaxy was the first team in MLS to achieve 300 victories.

U.S. Open Cup Advancement

Three days after United’s League match vs. New England on 6/8, a 0-0 draw, the Black-and-Red hosted the Philadelphia Union at the Maryland SoccerPlex in Boyds, Md. on 6/12 in the fourth round of the 2013 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. United captain Dwayne De Rosario was on fire, claiming a hat-trick against the Union and helping the Black-and-Red advance by a score of 3-1. United will next face the New England Revolution back at the Maryland SoccerPlex in the quarterfinals of the Open Cup on Wednesday, June 26.

De Rosario’s Hat-Trick of Hat-Tricks

With his hat-trick on 6/13 against the Philadelphia Union in the fourth round of the 2013 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, Dwayne De Rosario scored his third hat-trick in a D.C. United uniform. The Canadian had previously hit three in a game for the Black-and-Red against Toronto on 8/6/11 and Real Salt Lake on 9/24/11.

United vs. Toronto

D.C. United boasts a 10-3-2 all-time record against Toronto FC. In 2012, the Black-and-Red was a perfect 3-0-0 against the Canadian side, getting a 2-0 win at BMO Field on 5/5/12, a 3-1 win back at RFK Stadium on 5/19/12 – with the help of a Dwayne De Rosario brace – and capping the series with a 1-0 victory in Toronto on 10/6/12.
