Bill Hamid - Juan Aguedlo

D.C. United
& Clyde Simms

Clyde Simms featured regularly for the Black-and-Red from 2005-11, playing seven seasons for United and featuring in 182 matches (147 starts), tallying three goals and adding seven assists in that time. Simms helped United win back-to-back Supporters Shields in 2006 and 2007, and the 2008 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. When Simms departed United in 2011, his 182 appearances for the Black-and-Red placed him fifth on the club’s career appearance list. Before joining United, Simms played one season with D.C. United’s USL PRO affiliate Richmond Kickers – of the then- USL A-League – in 2004. Simms made 26 appearances (24 starts) while scoring three goals, including two game-winners with the Kickers.


Dwayne De Rosario
& Juan Agudelo

Juan Agudelo and Dwayne De Rosario were teammates at New York Red Bulls together from 04/01/2011 to 06/27/11, as the Canadian international spent time at three different MLS clubs throughout the season. De Rosario made 13 appearances in his three-month stay at New York, scoring twice and adding four assists. Agudelo featured in 10 games in that time, scoring once.


& Chad Barrett

Dwayne De Rosario and Chad Barrett spent the 2009 and 2010 seasons playing together at Toronto FC, but could not help the Canadian side reach the MLS Cup Playoffs in either year. De Rosario made 55 appearances in that time for Toronto, scoring 26 times and adding nine assists, while Barrett played 52 times and scored 12 during those two seasons.


Nick DeLeon
& Scott Caldwell

Nick DeLeon faced Scott Caldwell (and teammates Chris Korb and Perry Kitchen) in the 2010 College Cup Final for Louisville against Akron, which the Cardinals lost 1-0.


& Andrew Farrell

Nick DeLeon spent two years playing alongside Andrew Farrell for the Louisville Cardinals, guiding the side to two straight NCAA tournament appearances before Farrell was selected first overall in the 2013 MLS SuperDraft. In 2010, Louisville reached the College Cup final where the team was downed 1-0 by Akron, and in 2011 the Cardinals made the quarterfinals but were defeated 1-0 by UCLA in double overtime.


& Stephen McCarthy

Stephen McCarthy’s University of North Carolina (UNC) Tar Heels and Nick DeLeon’s University of Louisville Cardinals met on 12/10/12. DeLeon’s Louisville Cardinals topped McCarthy – who tallied UNC’s only goal in the match – and the Tar Heels 2-1 in the semifinal of the 2010 NCAA Tournament. Both players started the game.


& Luis Soffner

Nick DeLeon and the Louisville Cardinals faced Luis Soffner’s Indiana Hoosiers on 10/05/11, with the Cardinals edging the Hoosiers 3-2 in overtime.


& Kelyn Rowe
Kelyn Rowe’s University of California-Los Angeles (UCLA) Bruins and Nick DeLeon’s University of Louisville Cardinals met three times while both players attended their respective schools in 2010 and 2011. In the first matchup – the 2010 NCAA Tournament quarterfinals – on 12/4/10, DeLeon’s Cardinals would get a 5-4 win over Rowe and the UCLA Bruins. DeLeon scored a goal, while Rowe tallied once and added an assist in the nine-goal thriller. In the second matchup on 8/27/11, DeLeon and the Cardinals grabbed a 2-0 win over Rowe’s Bruins. The third matchup – the 2011 NCAA Tournament quarterfinals, ironically a rematch from the previous year – on 12/3/11, Rowe and the Bruins would manage a 1-0 win over DeLeon’s Cardinals. DeLeon started every match against Rowe’s Bruins, while Rowe started the first two games and came on as a substitute in the third.
Taylor Kemp
& Andrew Farrell

In 2012, Taylor Kemp (and teammate Casey Townsend) was part of the Maryland team that defeated Andrew Farrell (and D.C. United midfielder Nick DeLeon) and the Louisville Cardinals in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament. Kemp laid on an assist for his side’s first goal as they trumped the Cardinals 3-1. Kemp was also involved a year earlier on 11/27/11, as Maryland lost 4-2 to the Cardinals in the third round of the NCAA Tournament, a game in which he and Farrell both started.


& Stephen McCarthy

Stephen McCarthy’s University of North Carolina (UNC) Tar Heels and Taylor Kemp’s (and teammates Casey Townsend and Ethan White’s) Maryland Terrapins met twice in 2010. In the first matchup on 9/24/10, McCarthy’s UNC Tar Heels would go on to a 2-1 win over Kemp and the Terps. In the second matchup – the 2010 ACC Tournament championship – on 11/14/10, Kemp, Townsend, White and the Terps would get a 1-0 win against McCarthy and UNC. Kemp, Townsend and White started both matches. McCarthy started the first game and was used as a substitute for the second game.


& Tyler Polak

Tyler Polak’s Creighton Blue Jays and Taylor Kemp’s (and teammate Casey Townsend’s) Maryland Terrapins met on 9/30/11. Kemp, Townsend and the Terps would get a 1-0 win thanks to a 14th minute Townsend strike. All players started the game.


& Donnie Smith

Donnie Smith’s UNC-Charlotte 49ers and Taylor Kemp’s (and teammate Casey Townsend’s) Maryland Terrapins met on 9/27/11. Kemp, Townsend and the Terps thumped Smith’s 49ers 3-0, with Townsend tallying the first goal and Smith notching the 49ers’ lone goal late in the match. Kemp and Townsend started the match while Smith came on as a substitute.


& A.J. Soares

A.J. Soares’ California (Cal) Golden Bears and Taylor Kemp’s (and teammates Casey Townsend and Ethan White’s) Maryland Terrapins met on 09/06/09. Kemp, Townsend, White and the Terrapins handed A.J. Soares’ Cal side a 2-1 loss. All players started the match.


Perry Kitchen
& Scott Caldwell

Perry Kitchen and Scott Caldwell spent just one year together with the Akron Zips in 2010, but it was a successful one as the team won the 2010 College Cup thanks to Caldwell’s goal against Louisville in the final. During Kitchen’s lone year with the Zips, he started all 25 games in midfield and started alongside Caldwell, who made 24 appearances that season, for the triumph over the Cardinals.


& Andrew Farrell

Perry Kitchen was part of the successful 2010 Akron Zips that defeated Andrew Farrell and the Louisville Cardinals 1-0 in the 2010 College Cup. Both players started the game as Akron won its first NCAA Men’s Soccer National Championship.


& Stephen McCarthy

Stephen McCarthy’s University of North Carolina (UNC) Tar Heels and Perry Kitchen’s (and teammate Chris Korb’s) University of Akron Zips met on 9/3/10. Kitchen, Korb and the Zips thumped McCarthy’s UNC 3-0, Kitchen tallying the second and Korb assisting the third of Akron’s three goals. All players started the game.

Tyler Polak’s Creighton Blue Jays and Perry Kitchen’s (and teammate Chris Korb’s) University of Akron Zips met on 10-27-10. Kitchen, Korb and the Zips managed to nab a 1-0 win against Polak’s Blue Jays. All players started the game.

Perry Kitchen (and teammate Chris Korb) faced A.J. Soares in his lone year with Akron in 2010, when the Zips took on California on 12/04/10 in the quarterfinals of the 2010 NCAA tournament. Akron was victorious on penalties that day, with Kitchen earning a start and scoring a goal.

Chris Korb faced Kevin Alston in the 2008 adidas/IU Credit Union Classic final, with Korb playing for the Akron Zips and Alston representing the Indiana Hoosiers. Both players started the game at defense and played the full game as the sides tied 0-0 in double overtime.


& Scott Caldwell

Korb spent two seasons playing alongside Scott Caldwell for the Akron Zips, winning the College Cup together in 2010 when the Zips defeated Louisville 1-0 in Korb’s senior year. Caldwell was named the Most Outstanding Offensive Player at the College Cup that year, while Korb made the All-MAC Second Team.


& Andrew Farrell

Chris Korb (and teammate Perry Kitchen) faced Andrew Farrell in the 2010 College Cup for Akron against Farrell’s (and D.C. United midfielder Nick DeLeon’s) Louisville team. Both players started the game as the Zips took a 1-0 win.

Chris Korb (alongside D.C. United teammate Perry Kitchen) was part of the Akron team that defeated the California side that contained A.J Soares on 12/04/10 in the quarterfinals of the NCAA tournament. The Zips secured the win on penalties after a 3-3 draw.


& Luis Soffner

Luis Soffner’s Indiana Hoosiers and Chris Korb’s Akron Zips met on 09/18/09. Both players started the game in which the Zips nabbed a 1-0 victory. The following year, the two met again on 11/28/10 in a game that Korb (and teammate Perry Kitchen) won 2-1 with the Zips.


Brandon McDonald
& Ryan Guy

With the University of San Francisco, Brandon McDonald faced Ryan Guy twice in 2006 in his time at the University of San Diego. Each time, San Francisco was successful, winning 2-1 in the first game on 10/08/09 and 2-0 in the second in their final West Coast Conference match on 11/05/06. Guy scored San Diego’s only goal in its first loss.


& Stephen McCarthy

Stephen McCarthy’s Santa Clara University (SCU) Broncos and Brandon McDonald’s University of San Francisco (USF) Dons met four times while each player was at his respective school during 2006 and 2007. McCarthy and the SCU Broncos topped McDonald’s USF Dons in all four matchups. Both players started each match, with McCarthy tallying in the players’ third matchup on 10/12/07.


& A.J. Soares

A.J. Soares’ California (Cal) Golden Bears and Brandon McDonald’s USF Dons met on 9/4/07. McDonald and the Dons would nab a 2-1 win against Soares’ Cal Bears. Both played started the game.


Sainey Nyassi
& New England Revolution

Sainey Nyassi spent seven seasons with New England from 2007-2013 before being acquired by D.C. United on 5/28. The Gambian international made 104 appearances for the Revolution, scoring eight goals in that time and adding four assists.


James Riley
& Juan Agudelo

During the 2012 MLS season, James Riley and Juan Agudelo spent time as teammates with Chivas USA, after Riley had joined the club from the Seattle Sounders late in 2011. Agudelo switched from New York on 05/17/12 and made 20 appearances, scoring three goals and providing three assists. Riley missed just two games all season for Chivas, making 32 appearances and laying on two assists.


& New England Revolution

James Riley spent three seasons with the Revolution from 2005-07, making 70 appearances and scoring one goal. He helped the side reach three MLS Cup finals in each season and was also part of the team that won the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup in 2007, the Revs’ first major trophy.


& Chris Tierney

In his final year with Wake Forest, James Riley would face Chris Tierney’s Virginia Cavaliers twice in 2004. The pair first met on 09/17/04 as Virginia grabbed a 2-1 win and then again in the 2004 ACC Tournament semi-finals as the Tierney and the Cavaliers once again took a 2-1 victory.

& A.J. Soares

A.J. Soares’ California (Cal) Golden Bears faced Chris Pontius’ University of California-Santa Barbara (UCSB) Gauchos on 11/25/08. Soares and the Golden Bears would defeat Pontius’ UCSB 3-2 on a 102nd minute overtime strike. Both players started the game.


& Chris Tierney

Chris Tierney’s Virginia Cavaliers met Chris Pontius and the UCSB Gauchos on 08/27/06, with Tierney coming on as a late substitute for Virginia in a 1-0 win over Pontius and the Gauchos.


Carlos Ruiz
& Chad Barrett

Carlos Ruiz and Chad Barrett were teammates at Toronto FC during part of the 2008 season. Ruiz joined Toronto from the LA Galaxy, making five appearances (three starts). Barrett moved north from the Chicago Fire on 07/30/08 and made 13 appearances scored four goals and added three assists.


& Matt Reis

Carlos Ruiz made his MLS debut in 2002 for the Los Angeles Galaxy and spent that season playing with current New England goalkeeper Matt Reis, who was then traded to the New England Revolution on 01/17/03. Ruiz played 26 games for the Galaxy that season and scored 24 goals, while Reis played 11 times./


& Juan Toja

Carlos Ruiz spent three seasons with FC Dallas from 2005-2007 (with D.C. United teammate Marcelo Saragosa from 2006-2007), and played alongside Juan Toja in 2007. During the 2007 MLS season, Ruiz played 19 games and scored seven goals, while Toja played 27 times and scored six.


John Thorrington
& Chad Barrett

John Thorrington returned to the United States when he joined the Chicago Fire in 2005, spending three years playing alongside Chad Barrett from 2005-2007 before he departed for Toronto in 2008. In those three years with the Fire, Thorrington played 35 times and scored seven goals while Barrett made 82 appearances and scored 18.


& Bilal Duckett

John Thorrington and Bilal Duckett were both on the roster with the 2011 Vancouver Whitecaps in the club’s inaugural MLS season. Thorrington played 11 times that season, while Duckett made four appearances in what was his first year in the League.


Casey Townsend
& Juan Agudelo

Casey Townsend featured for Chivas USA in his rookie season (2012), playing alongside Agudelo. In that time, Townsend made 17 appearances, scoring once, while Agudelo featured in 20 games and tallied three goals.


& Darrius Barnes

Casey Townsend faced Darrius Barnes in his first year with the Maryland Terrapins, helping his team to a 1-0 victory at home against Barnes and the Duke Blue Devils on 9/19/08.


& Andrew Farrell

Casey Townsend (and teammate Taylor Kemp) was part of the Maryland side that lost to Andrew Farrell’s (and D.C. United midfielder Nick DeLeon’s) Louisville Cardinals 4-2 in the third round of the NCAA Tournament in 2011 Farrell started that game for the Cardinals, with Townsend playing 87 minutes and scoring one of his side’s goals.
