& Andrew Jacobson


  • Andrew Jacobson was the 24th overall pick in the 2008 MLS SuperDraft and the first pick by D.C. United. However, instead of playing in MLS, Jacobson chose to sign a contract with French Ligue 1 side FC Lorient. Jacobson returned to MLS in 2009, and was allocated back to D.C. United. Jacobson made 17 appearances for the Black-and-Red, totaling 845 minutes, and tallying once in a 2-1 win over the Harrisburg City Islanders in the U.S. Open Cup quarterfinals.

& Stephen Keel

  • Stephen Keel and Dwayne De Rosario were briefly teammates at the New York Red Bulls in 2011. De Rosario, who would start out with Toronto FC and was later traded to New York, eventually landed with D.C. United to finish out the 2011 MLS season.

& Matt Hedges


  • Matt Hedges transferred to the University of North Carolina (UNC) for his senior season of his college career (2011) from Butler University (Indiana). Hedges’ second-ranked UNC Tar Heels faced Nick DeLeon’s No.1-ranked Louisville Cardinals on 9/4/11. DeLeon opened scoring in the match, but the Cardinals conceded two goals to the Tar Heels, resulting in a 2-1 upset for Hedges and the Tar Heels.

  • Zach Loyd’s University of North Carolina (UNC) Tar Heels squared off against Chris Korb’s Akron Zips in the 2009 College Cup semi-final, ending 0-0 (5-4 PKs) in favor of Korb and the Zips, advancing the team to the 2009 College Cup final.


& Bobby Warshaw


  • Bobby Warshaw’s Stanford University Cardinal squared off against Chris Korb’s Akron Zips in the Sweet-16 round of the 2009 College Cup, ending 2-0 in favor of Korb and the Zips.


BRANDON MCDONALD

& Andrew Jacobson


  • Andrew Jacobson’s University of California-Berkeley (Cal) Golden Bears squared off against Brandon McDonald’s University of San Francisco (USF) Dons in a preseason exhibition match on 8/27/04, ending 2-0 for the Cal Bears. The two would meet for the second time a year later during the Bay Area Classic on 9/16/05, a match that ended 2-1 in favor of Jacobson, who recorded an assist in the game, and the Cal Bears. However, McDonald and the USF Dons would get those losses back. The first came in a 1-0 win in the 2006 Bay Area Classic on 8/25/06 and again in a 2-0 win on 9/14/07.


& Bobby Warshaw


  • Bobby Warshaw’s Stanford University Cardinal squared off against Brandon McDonald’s USF Dons on 9/16/07. Warshaw would equalize for the Cardinal after dropping 1-0 in the 6th minute to USF. However, in overtime, McDonald would assist the eventual game-winner in the 106th minute, clinching a 2-1 victory for the Dons.


LIONARD PAJOY

& Blas Pérez


  • Blas Pérez and Lionard Pajoy, both spent years in the Colombian Primera A and were briefly teammates at Cúcuta Deportivo in 2007. Pérez would depart the club later that year and Pajoy would stay with the club until 2009.

  • Andrew Jacobson’s University of California-Berkeley (Cal) Golden Bears squared off against Chris Pontius’ University of California-Santa Barbara (UCSB) Gauchos on 9/2/05. Pontius was listed as a substitute in the game that ended 2-0 in favor of Jacobson and the Cal Bears.


& George John


  • George John’s University of Washington Huskies squared off against Chris Pontius’ UCSB Gauchos on 11/27/07. Both players started in the match that ended 1-0 in favor of Pontius and the Gauchos.

  • Zach Loyd’s UNC Tar Heels and Casey Townsend’s University of Maryland Terrapins squared off three times in 2008. The first match on 11/7/08 ended 2-1 in favor of Townsend, who had an assist in the game, and the Terps. The second would take place five days later on 11/12/08, ending in a 1-0 win for Maryland. And the last match between the two teams was the 2008 College Cup final, once again ending 1-0 in favor of Townsend and the Terps. The two would meet just once the following year in a match on 9/25/09, and Townsend (along with D.C. United teammate Ethan White) walked away with another 1-0 win over Loyd and the Tar Heels.


& London Woodberry


  • London Woodberry and Casey Townsend (along with D.C. United teammate Ethan White in 2009 and 2010) were teammates at the University of Maryland from 2009-11, going 48-13-6 in their time together at Maryland.
