Nick DeLeon vs Houston - leg 2

After going down with a hamstring strain 31 minutes into United’s 2-1 loss to the Columbus Crew on 3/23, Nick DeLeon made his return to the pitch tonight in a substitute appearance. While United lost 4-0 to Eastern Conference first-place club Houston Dynamo, it was encouraging to see the 2012 MLS Rookie of the Year runner-up back in action. DeLeon entered the match in the 71st minute for Daniel Woolard to add an attacking spark.

Last season, the University of Louisville product broke the club’s rookie goal-scoring record with six strikes and tallied twice in United’s playoff run. While the midfielder has not added any goals or assists yet this season, his production is bound to come and is crucial to turning United’s losing streak around.

“We’ll keep moving and we have a quick turnaround to try and heal up and move forward against a tough [FC] Dallas team,” said Head Coach Ben Olsen. “It doesn’t get any easier – we have Dallas, Kansas City, and Portland, so it’s going to be a tough stretch.”
