March to March 9: Ben Olsen setting the bar

Ben Olsen march to march 9

As pointed out by MLSsoccer.com’s Simon Borg, D.C. United Head Coach Ben Olsen comes out on top for most wins by an MLS coach 35-years-old or younger. Made a skipper at age 33 – then the youngest head-coaching hire in MLS history – Olsen already has 29 wins under his belt.

Last season, the former Black-and-Red midfielder led the club to its first playoff appearance since 2007 and the team made it all the way to the Eastern Conference Finals. Olsen was subsequently rewarded for his achievements with a contract extension this past Thursday.

Borg wrote:

Now with club pride finally restored in D.C. and Olsen's imprint firmly established, there's no reason to believe that there won't be plenty more where those came from.

For the foreseeable future, this new-look United squad is indeed Olsen’s Army.
