Despite one of D.C.'s best road efforts of 2012, the Black-and-Red fell 1-0 to Real Salt Lake over the weekend.  Here are a few key statistics from United's defeat at Rio Tinto Stadium.

Moments after the match begin, a storm front moved through Sandy, UT causing an 85-minute delay due to lightning. Head Coach Ben Olsen admitted the delay was "a pain", but said his team wasn't bothered by the delay. "I thought the player’s response was good after the break."

Attempts on goal by D.C. United, one more than Real SaltLake’s total of 13.  It’s rare thata team visits Rio Tinto and tries to go toe-to-toe with the hosts,but the Black-and-Red did just that. Each team put four of their shots on goal.

Saturday marked Dwayne De Rosario’s fourth straight start inwhich D.C.’s captain led the club in shots.  In fact, no player on either team took more shots than DeRosario’s five.  De Rosario nowranks fourth in MLS with 81 shots in 2012.

Number of incomplete passes by D.C. defender EmilianoDudar.  The Argentine has beenexpected to bring better ball movement to United’s back line, and against RSL,he delivered.  Dudar completed 25of 28 passes recorded on Saturday.
