Three minutes into his debut for emerging European power Paris St. Germain, superstar striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic had already opened his scoring account.
And just a quarter-hour later, the Swede made his first lightning-rod comments while in a PSG kit.
"I think we are better than [AC] Milan for sure," Ibrahimovic proclaimed when asked if his new team could be the best he's ever played on. "Barcelona, we have to still work a lot. It's a new team with new players and we are building it up."
Moments into Saturday's Hebalife World Football Challenge contest against D.C. United, Ibrahimovic took a pass from teammate Jeremy Menez as he raced behind the Black-and-Red defense. Once inside the area, 'Ibra' fired a perfectly placed shot inside Bill Hamid's far post.
"I'm still in my preparation, I don't feel one-hundred percent in my condition," Ibrahimovic acknowledged. "But this is the type of game you need to play to come up to one-hundred percent."
Ibrahimovic made his bold comments during a lightning-induced stoppage in play at Washington's RFK Stadium. The 30-year-old returned to the pitch after a half-hour delay, but was replaced by Guillaume Hoarau in the 38th minute.
