“Baseball is every day but this is a hard sport,” Torressaid with a laugh.  “I see the guysrunning and it’s a very intense game. I think this is harder than baseball.”

Before being traded to the Mets in late 2011, Torres won aWorld Series during a highly successful three-year stint with the San FranciscoGiants.  It was there that he met D.C.United General Partner Will Chang, who doubles as a principal partner in the Giants’ownership group.  At Chang’sinvitation, Torres visited with United during the club’s preseason trip toArizona earlier this year.  Now,despite his professional and personal roots in the Big Apple, Torres says theBlack-and-Red are his favorite MLS team.

“This is the first team I know and now I have a jersey,” saidTorres while showing off a personalized uniform with his number 56 on theback.  “I hope they make theplayoffs and then I’ll come back to see that too.”
